As bloggers, there are no real ways or metrics to measure the success of a blog. Some people use the blog’s income as the metric, some use Googe Page Rank and etc. However, there are also many people use Alexa Ranking as one of the factors to measure the success of a blog.
If you’re new to Alexa Ranking, it’s a free service that ranks your site by comparing it with other websites in the world based on few metrics. Here’s from explanation from the Alexa site:
The global traffic rank is a measure of how a website is doing relative to all other sites on the web over the past 3 months. The site with the highest combination of unique visitors and pageviews is ranked #1.
For example, here’s the top 3 for global Alexa Ranking:
Although some people claimed that Alexa Ranking is not 100% reliable, some people, like advertising companies might use it as a starting point to predict your blog’s traffic. To check the Alexa Ranking of your own site, you could do that from the Alexa Ranking site.
As a blogger, you might want to showcase your Alexa Ranking to your visitors. For example, if you have a really good Alexa Ranking (the lower the ranking is better), you might want to showcase your Alexa Ranking to let others know how popular or successful your blog is.
